Our Approach
Our approach to the design, development and implementation of management systems is tailored to each client's needs. We take care to ensure that we fully understand these needs and the issues that need to be addressed. Commonly an assignment will include the following steps:
  • Problem Definition - We work with our clients to understand the business need and the issues. It is important to define the issues that have led the organisation to seek change. What are the problems that have been observed and what are the underlying factors? This often requires investigation in the field and consultation with key personnel. We then help define clear objectives and identify the organisational culture into which the system is to be implemented.

  • Solution Design - We help you to design and develop solutions, which deliver tangible long-term business benefits. We can custom design your system or use established frameworks such as AS4801. Importantly we are careful to ensure that the solution is fit for purpose and is aligned with the organisational culture.

  • Plan Implementation - The next step is to develop a clear implementation plan to ensure the solution achieves real change in the work place. This generally entails communication, training, motivation and provision of support. Our experience shows that even well designed systems can fail if implementation is not done well.

  • Implementation - In this step we can provide implementation support to our clients in various forms including training, on the job coaching, monitoring take up of the initiative and, in some cases, auditing processes and outcomes.

  • Verify Solution - Following implementation, it is crucial to verify that the solution has met expectations. We can assist in field investigations to check implementation progress and to fine tune the system to overcome issues that are hampering effectiveness.

Our Experience
Ibis worked with the John Holland Group to develop a ground breaking safety management system for the construction industry. This system integrated the principles of risk management into the business cycle of the company. This has proved effective in describing the role expectations at all levels in the company and has been an important component of the company's overall safety improvement strategy leading to major improvements in its safety performance.
Ibis assisted Origin Energy to develop and implement a risk management system to assist in managing the full spectrum of business risks including OHS. The work included context setting with the Managing Director where the system parameters were defined and outcomes agreed.
Ibis has helped Amcor to upgrade its Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment process so that it is more effective as a tool for the business and to make it more user friendly to increase take up in the business.
